A TOUR IN SCOTLAND and Voyage to the Hebrides 1772. Edinburgh: Birlinn, 1998. xxiii + 791pp. 8½x5½ With 88 full page b/w engravings of scenes, fauna and a few maps. Introduction by C.W.J. Withers. Reprint of a book first published in two parts in 1174 and 1776. The journal of his second tour of the region. This book is full of contemporary detail of the landscape, architecture, history and local customs of the places visited. Although the title only mentions Scotland, it also includes sections on Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumberland, Westmoreland, Northumberland, Durham and Yorkshire. Also several interesting appendices. Not a whisky book, but often included in the bibliographies of whisky books. Useful background reading for whisky enthusiasts. Paperback. Title page missing and some minor creasing to top corner of about 200pp otherwise a excellent working copy. Book No.803. £2.75

Mainly American and Canadian beers, also some from Europe. The second section deals with display figures issued by distilleries plus some for wines. Good number of whisky artefacts, although mainly American. Even some of the Scottish brands are listed under the firms that import them. The third and smallest section covers miscellaneous display figures for a wide range of items such as cigars, cigarettes, shoes, eye glasses, lingerie, coffee, Chinese food, pipes and tea. It should be noted that most of the items show are purely for advertising a product and have no practical use. Glossy paper covered boards. Some minor bumps and marks otherwise VG+. Book No.36.
